Re: Video games
I've always loved video games since I was as young as I can remember, playing on the Atari 2600 before we even had the original Nintendo.
I still play video games a fair amount, probably close to every day at least for a few minutes. I am fortunate I guess in that I have never been the type to really obsess over a game and clear my schedule just to play it and get addicted or whatever. I usually just play early in the morning if I'm up sooner than I need to be (which happens often, but I find if I play for a half hour before work in the morning I'm a lot more relaxed), or maybe if I have a day off or whatever and my wife is at work or asleep.
Anyway, I love the old school Mario games on the original Nintendo and to a slightly lesser extent on Super Nintendo. I never owned an N64 but when I played Mario 64 it was all well and good but I could never get into that, and I have a Gamecube and Super Mario Sunshine, and I just struggle to really want to play it.
I don't know, I guess I just prefer 2D gaming overall.
I also really love the Mega Man series (especially the ones on the old Nintendo
) and the 2D Metroid games (can't get into the 3D ones, either!).
Bionic Commando and Super Mario Bros. 3, both on NES, are probably my alltime favorites.
I used to like the Final Fantasy series and some other RPGs but I find I just don't usually have the patience for long games like that anymore, though I did recently play through Chrono Trigger. On PC I love the Command and Conquer series, it's great. Haven't played the newest couple games because I don't think my PC can handle it. Shame, I really want to play Red Alert 3 especially.
I hear good things about the Age of Empires series... I really need to at least give it a whirl, I'm sure the older ones are dirt cheap by now.

I highly recommend Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings and its expansion The Conquerors. I really enjoy them. Age of Empires 1 is a bit clunky compared to 2, though. The units don't automatically group up into formations. Instead, they just stay semi-grouped and end up all over the map. Age of Empires 1 also had a problem with grouped units in that they tend to trip over each other and just stop moving. So a group sent half-way across the map would end up with four or five units somewhere along the path by themselves...
