Do you think we as Christians should try to redeem the media?
Redeem the media
I was just at a recent convention and the speaker said appose to condemning the media, this person found Christian parallels in Finding Nemo. He took Who Let the Dogs Out and turned it into Who Let The Frogs Out to tell the story of the plags and a few others. What do you think?

Re: Redeem the media
Perhaps for evangelism. I thought Fireproof did that satisfactorily.

FIreproof is a movie made by a Baptist church in Albany Georgia. Look it up somewhere for more info. It's a really good movie!

Re: Redeem the media
What I was talking about was things that would not have any Christian content at face value and looking beyond the value, or taking a song and changing the words so that it had Christian content.

Re: Redeem the media
Okay, I read the Focus on the Family review and saw the trailer, (not that that makes me an expert) but from what I can tell it is about marriage not redeeming the media.

Re: Redeem the media
I voted YES AND NO.
I think that we as Christians can use the media as a means of evangelism, and spreading the truths of the Bible. I agree that Fireproof was an awesome movie with great morals that reflect the principles of fidelity and faithfulness in marriage. There are also people like Dave Ramsey who use TV, Radio, podcast, and internet to teach Christians and non-Christians about Biblical principles of money management/stewardship.
Unfortunately, there are some aspects of media that we cannot expect to "redeem" because it is orchestrated by non-believers that have flawed viewpoints. The Bible does call us to be "in the world, and not of the world", so there are times when we may not be able to change the media (and the world). We do have to separate ourselves from some of those carnal areas of the world.
