Reports
I know most of all the students in the history of the world hate writing reports, but let's discuss them properly.
I'll start. I have written many reports and research papers in my time, and I am currently working on one. My assignment is a simple two-or-three-page research paper. I had complete liberty of topic, and I have selected Allied codebreaking in World War II.
I know a young lady who chose the process of pasteurization for a topic. She did not have complete liberty of choice, but she had a moderate selection to choose from. Her best option, it seems, was the pasteurization.
I have found papers on bookshelves in my home that my mother wrote when she was in college. These papers include topics such as the effects of feminism on society and the family unit and Alexander the Great's impact on the modern world's culture!
Please post here and tell us about reports you have written, are writing, have heard about or have seen.

Re: Reports
About one of the Congressmen who represents my state!
Also whether the founding fathers really intended for there to be a separation of church and state to the extremity that it is implemented today.

Re: Reports
The second one sounds interesting JED, would you mind posting it? I would love to read it.
Right now I just finnished a report about my past trip to China. It sounds simple, I know, but it was written in Chinese.
I think that the most recent report I wrote was about Dante's worldview compared to that of the Bible.
Kody, your mom's report on feminism is the exact same one that I wish I had time to do. Is there any chance she would share it for us to read?

I will check on that. I'll need to figure out how to post it. I'll probably upload it to a server and post the link here. Plus I will need her permission, and I will need to find it again (which could take a while...).

KODY 105 update
I handed in that research paper on the due date. I had typed my rough draft the day before it was due. I got 100% on it! Praise the Lord!
Perhaps, if any of you are interested in the results of WWII codebreaking, I could post a link to the document.

The nature of Man
The Cause/Nature of Sin
Heaven-Hell
Scripture
Salvation-Christ

Re: Reports
I enjoy writing reports.
Some of the ones I have written include:
various ones about The Civil War and World War 2
One on the bottlenose dolphin
One on my life as a Christian
About the life of Jim Elliot, a missionary to South America
How God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit all at once
Many others that I can't think of at the time
Right now I am working on one about an experience I have had in school that has helped me grow as a person(it's a required report). I am also in the process of writing a book report on Betty Olsen, another missionary
My brother writes all the reports he can about tractors. Sometimes, though, my mom makes him write about another topic.

Re: Reports
I did quite a few, especially in college. But Kody discussing WWII reminded me of one I was forced to do in my WWII class. We didn't even get to pick sides, we just had to write what our professor assigned us, so I had to write a paper AGAINST the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, even though that wasn't my opinion.
It's not like the professor was evil and forced us all to write from one point of view, other students had to defend the bombings, and there were other interesting questions posed to others.
While it didn't change my view, I was sort of glad I had to do it because it did help me to at least understand the other side of the argument.

Re: Reports
Now I am in the midst of a paper about early American education. Finding sources at my small library is hard indeed.

Re: Reports
Ah, and reading Brian's post, I remembered something.
Earlier this school year I had to be in a debate about the Japanese Internment. Now, while I was on the side of against it, which I'm, it was still 1) Difficult to find info, because they still did it, and 2) I still saw that even though I was against something, undestanding both sides is a key factor. While we all managed something for the debate, there just wasn't anything... there.
The other side had a hard time writing for their argument. As some have said, when you have to write something that is AGAINST what you believe, whether is changes your view, it can be difficult, but it also can be enlightening. You can see both sides, and understand. Doesn't mean you'll have a change of heart.
